Reading classes in prisons

In 2021, we carried out a series of classes popularising reading in prisons for men. "Books about Polish Heroes of Many Nations" is an original project designed by Marcin Prokop, a history enthusiast and a speaker experienced in conducting classes in penitentiary units (he has already conducted more than 30). In this instalment of our prison activities, we switched to online mode. Thanks to this, despite the pandemic closure, we reached the inmates of two remand prisons in Warsaw. Our reading project presented books devoted to Polish national heroes who are also heroes for other countries and nations. Multimedia presentations, lectures and quizzes brought the participants closer to books about, among others, Józef Bem, Tadeusz Kościuszko, Kazimierz Pułaski, Joseph Conrad, Stanisław Maczek and the Righteous Among the Nations. Experience tells us that men in prison most enjoy reading historical literature. For years, we have been trying to meet their interests and during classes, we present interesting books that we buy and donate to prison libraries. This year we operated exclusively online!
