SAWORE/Everyone

SAWORE/Everyone our creative picnic, where Varsovians could talk about their identity and the City could show its diversity, was organised on 9 September 2023.

The picnic went so well that you couldn’t have dreamed better. There was great summer weather, a beautiful venue (Educational Pavilion Kamień), workshops led by talented artists: Krzysztof Gil, Józek Gałązka, Joanna Świerczyńska, Robert Kwaśniewski and there was, above all, an idea: the table.

The table became the key to artistic activities referring to Romani, blacksmith traditions. It was a symbolic place for communal action, on which the participants placed their works in the form of squares made using the technique of repudiation on copper plates.

Together, we created an unusual installation that brought together the thoughts and feelings of the participants, a story about their identity and thus about the diversity of Warsaw’s inhabitants. This collective statement was enclosed in the area of the table. The main tool was an iron anvil, but there were also hammers, pliers and points. Regardless of their age, participants created their artistic expressions in copper. A bonfire was burning in the background, which created an unusual atmosphere for working together.

The tinsel and table decorating workshop was followed by musical performances by Roma artists Jan Wiśniewski (guitar), Grażyna Markowska (dance) and Delfina Wiśniewska (singing and dancing). Jan Wiśniewski encouraged the participants to dance and sing together. Julia Rańda, who was present in the audience, sang a Roma song together with Jan Wiśniewski. Finally, there was a performance by Natan Kryszek, who played music on the saxophone which referred to themes of nature, the road, animal voices and birds.

The whole built up an event that we will ALL (Sawore) remember for a long time.

We would like to thank Paweł Althamer for his inspiration, support and guidance.

Sawore, or everyone (creative picnic)

9 September 2023. EVERYONE will meet under the Education Pavilion Kamień at Wybrzeże Puckie 1 St. for a creative picnic.

Creatively: together with the artists invited to the project, we will create a spatial metal installation under the creative direction of visual artists such as Paweł Althamer, Krzysztof Gil, Józek Gałązka, Joasia Świerczyńska and Robert Kwaśniewski. We will create a sculpture – a table, referring to the craft tradition of the Roma, using metalwork.

In the afternoon, we invite you to a guitar concert by Jan Wiśniewski and a dance show by the choreographer Grażyna Markowska, followed by a jam session led by musicians Jan Wiśniewski (guitar) and Natan Kryszek (saxophone) and willing guests (bring your instruments!).

Picnic: bring blankets, drinks and food, as there is no catering around the Education Pavilion.

Weather: any weather is good, in case of rain we will hide inside the pavilion.

EVERYONE is welcome.
