What happened in Poland after it regained independence? Who were the key actors of socio-political life in the Independent Republic? What were the most important events shaping the course of contemporary Polish history?<\/p>\n

On the 100th anniversary of Poland's regaining independence, we decided to prepare an attractive educational and historical programme for men serving prison sentences in two Warsaw detention centres, in Bia\u0142o\u0142\u0119ka and Groch\u00f3w.<\/p>\n

The male convicts are very interested in history. To meet their passions, we have prepared a multimedia presentation, a lecture, educational materials that the participants will be able to take to their cells, and an interactive game to conclude. The game took the form of a performance and was a tool for summarising the acquired knowledge and consolidating it.<\/p>\n

As part of the 'Independence in Prisons' project, we conducted 8 classes for more than 160 convicts. Its authors were Marcin Prokop (lecture, presentation, selection of content) and Ma\u0142gorzata Brus (performance - game). The project was developed on an ongoing basis in close cooperation with the participants and cultural and educational educators from each penitentiary institution.<\/p>\n
